The thermal activity is utilized in the Leirbotn thermal power station.

Cold water goes deep underground where it is really hot, changes to steam which powers a turbine, condenses and goes back underground. How elementary, my dear Watson!

At least the principle. It is more complicated in real. For example, one of the wells exploded during construction. Luckily nobody got hurt - probably all workers had tea break :-)
