7. 8. Mývatn, Dimmuborgir, Grenjadarstadur, Godafoss

Day 12: Sun, Clouds

We did a small walk to find a cache near a golf course in the morning. Then Dimmubogir with bizarre lava formations. Just round the corner Höfdi nature reserve with scenic views and lots of midges.

From pseudocraters on south of the lake we continued to Vindbelgjarfjall mountain. We gave up climbing on it - we were too lazy in such sudden hot weather.

Through museum in Grenjadarstadur to the Godafoss waterfall. Too many tourists there. But it is interesting to watch them trying to get the best picture while balancing on the edge high above the river.

The day ends in a camp in Akureyri (800 ISK).
